In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O God, eternal shepherd and guide, in your providence you never cease to care for your Church;
we give you heartfelt thanks and praise
for the gift of our new Holy Father,
whom you have set among us as a successor to Peter and a servant of your Gospel.
Grant, we pray, that he may lead your people with wisdom and courage,
in holiness of life and fervent charity, ever attentive to the promptings of your Holy Spirit.
May he be a sign of unity, a herald of your truth, and a faithful guardian of the faith entrusted to the Apostles.
